Beat The GMAT!

Beat The GMAT is a day-to-day blog detailing how I studied for and beat the Graduate Management Admission Test™ (GMAT). This site shall serve as a study guide for future GMAT test takers.

Ursula's Debriefing

The following is a legendary debriefing by a GMAT forum user named "Ursula," who scored a 760 on the GMAT. Her post is the reason why I became inspired to study for the GMAT on my own and create Beat The GMAT!

Ursula developed a simple and methodical study strategy--truly a beautiful thing.

Enjoy! http://www.urch.com/forums/just-finished-my-gmat/10134-760-q49-v46.html#post41054

Wow Ursula, what an accomplishment. I would like to take the test in a month and a half and lets just say that the PowerPrep test that I took (my first one) was a few hundred points less than yours. I have been studying for about a month now and looking to go atleast in the 600 range. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hey Ursa,

Fantastic! Well done.

I scored 650 in my first attempt purely due to the psychological meltdown in the quant section. I had been scoring in the range 710-750 during the practice tests.

Your blog has certainly given me an additional push. I am planning to give a second attempt in April '08. Aiming for 760!

Thanks for your post and sharing your test strategy. Your post really moved me. I am a 31 year woman trying to go back to school.
All the best and thanks again!

Hi Ursula,

I am originally from Germany, too, but I have lived in the States and in Southeast Asia for almost seven years.
You are referencing to the KAPLAN materials -- have you exchanged any experience with test takers who exclusively focused on the Official GMAT Test BOOKS and the MANHATTAN GMAT PREP Books?

I plan to study for about 12 - 16 weeks due to my extremely weak Math skills, and after your dedicated post I am quite excited to start. :-)

Alles Gute!
